How to Help to Host or Volunteer - the One Obligation as a HTSC Member

The HTSC has a long standing tradition that Members have an obligation to help Host one Stand Up event per season.  The reliance on a social event almost every Saturday night during the season,  has created a strong comradery among our members for generations.  We need your continued support to sustain this tradition.

Optionally members can help to host other Club events such as the Christmas Party, Halloween Party, Valentines Party, Commodore's Dinner or Spring Picnic - these are all annual events that require planning and hosting help.

This year we have added additional Volunteer opportunities for sign up that will fulfill your hosting obligation, such as helping the race committee during races throughout the season for example, with marker placement in your boat;  by volunteering to be a committee member for the Annual HTSC Ball Committee; or volunteering to help the Building and Grounds Chair with pruning, painting or other maintenance requirements. Hosting a Saturday Night Hosted and Popup Stand Ups  

The House Committee Chair will provide instructions for what is involved to host a Stand Up,  but typically 2-4 couples will work together to host one evening that includes setup and opening up the Club House, cleanup, providing ice, and buying or making an assortment of appetizers for up to 60-100 members and guests. If you are a member in season in Hope Town and have attended a Stand Up, you have an obligation to host one Stand Up per season.  The House Committee Chair has authority to assign a fee to any member who is either unable, or unwilling to host a Stand Up but attends  a Stand Up during the season.

The Clubhouse may be rented for a fee for private parties. Arrangements should be made with the House Committee Chair to confirm a date, number of guest and the fee.

The HTSC offers very successful social functions only when members are willing to volunteer their time to help host or organize an event. Please contact the House Chair if you have Volunteer ideas to help fulfill your membership obligation.  

Member and Public use of the Hope Town Sailing Club Dock

• Members, as well as the Public,  are asked to observe the following guidelines when typing up to the HTSC Dock:
• The dock is for small boats and dinghies 24 fee long or less
• Boats must use stern anchors and be tied away from ladders
• The end of the dock should be used only for loading and unloading
• No boats shall be docked overnight
• Thank you for helping us maintain these beautiful and convenient pier in the heart of the settlement!

Guidelines for Members who wish to bring guests to events:

•  HTSC events are restricted to adults 18 years or older except for racing crews on race days.
• Guests who wish to attend an event must always be accompanied by a member – there is no exception to this rule.
• Guests are allowed to attend two events during a season including Stand Ups, unless they are participating in a race, or have submitted a membership application that has been posted by the Executive Committee. If you are bringing a guest to a Stand Up you must inform the House Committee Chair, sign your guest in at the Club House and introduce your guests during the evening. During the busy season you may be asked to bring an appetizer to the event.
• During February and March due to space limitations, there may be a need to restrict the total number of guests. Please check with the House Committee Chair, during these months.
