Hope Town Sailing Club Racing
We are all hoping against mounting uncertainty that the Club will be able to hold races this coming winter. Hope Town should be a bright spot attracting cruisers seeking relief from the drumbeat of Covid news. With that in mind an abbreviated schedule has been put together and with your help we will have successful 2020-2021 season - please review the Calendar of events on the home page or here Racing (Cruising Class)
While sail boat racing holds a special place in the hearts and minds of many HTSC members, the Club membership is open to anyone who dinghies, sails, powerboats, dreams about boating or remembers their boating history. Your visits to and the connections with and support of the Abacos and its beautiful waters is what binds us all together.
As a member or non-member joining a fun race as skipper or crew however, may help you remember the thrill of a great start, getting across the finish line, being movable ballast or just the camaraderie of a salty experience.
Cruising Sailboat Racing
Join the Hope Town Sailing Club for fun days of racing during its winter racing schedule. The Hope Town Sailing Club invites cruising sailboats of all sizes and types to join us for any or all of scheduled regattas and cup races.
The races are open to HTSC members and non-members alike. There is no entry fee. Your boat will be given a handicap using PHRF and Portsmouth as a guideline. You will be racing with a most eclectic fleet - mono-hulls, multihulls, sloops, schooners, ketches, catboats all race together with the emphasis on fun competition.
Please visit the Cruising Boat Racing website page here. The 2020/2021 Race Schedule is posted, with more information on participating, race dates and Cups and getting a handicap.
A Six-Race Dinghy Series is held every year. There is no entry fee and you do not need to be a club member to participate.
There are many beautiful Abaco Dinghies identified in the Hope Town area, and several have raced in the Club's Dinghy Series. Many were older craft that had been restored and there are several more recently built using traditional methods. The event is open to Abaco Dinghies, Sunfish, Junior Optimist Dinghies and 420's. See Dinghy Racing here, for rules and guidelines governing these Sunday races.
