Stand Up Hosting for Season 2011 to 2012

According to the by-laws of the club, members attending a stand up during the season are required to host one stand up. Choose an empty spot on the sign up calender and contact Patte Myers at pattemyers@gmail.com to confirm your date. Be aware the stand up calender is updated periodically and your first choice may not be available. I will confirm your choice by return email.

Definition of Alternative Hosting

Alternative Hosting means members opt not to prepare the food personally but make arrangements with local restaurants or caterers . This means it is your responsibility to arrange for food to be delivered, set up for serving as well clean up at the end of the stand up. Alternative Hosting is not an inexpensive choice. Please see the below guidelines for how many dishes each host is responsible for serving at a stand up.

Definition of Amnesty Hosting

Amnesty Hosting is reserved only for members with medical or physical disabilities. Due to the many responsibilities of the House Committee, Amnesty Hosting will be limited and at the discretion of the House Chairman. Members must contact the House Chairman to receive approval and details regarding the amount of funds a member must donate.

HOPE TOWN SAILING CLUB GUIDELINES FOR STANDUPS

SATURDAY EVENING STANDUPS ARE FROM 5:30 PM TO 7:30 PM
RACE DAY STANDUPS ARE FROM 4:30 PM TO 6:30 PM AND USUALLY WEDNESDAYS
PLEASE NOTE:All members of the Club who attend any of the Standups are required to host one time during each season!

AS A GUIDELINE:  Attendance at Standups between October and January average about 60 people and use two hosts/host couples per night.  Standups in February, March and April are usually busier and can sometimes have as many as 90 people, needing three hosts/host couples. Your House Committee has carefully prepared the sign-up sheet. Please do not add or delete the number of hosts/host couples needed. YOU MAY ALSO SIGN UP TO HOST VIA THE HOPE TOWN SAILING CLUB WEBSITE, WWW.HOPETOWNSAILINGCLUB.COM.   Pick the opening you wish and email Patte Myers, House Chairman, requesting the opening.  Your choice will be confirmed by email and added to the page.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Each host/host couple should plan to provide three dishes, bearing in mind the total number of people expected to attend. Quantities should be appropriate for cocktail party consumption. Table decorations may be provided by the host/host couples or pulled together from things at the Clubhouse.  You will also find some tablecloths, utensils, serving dishes, cocktail napkins, dish towels and cleaning supplies.  It is best to check out for yourself what is available before the week you are hosting.  The key may be picked up from Patte or at the Sailing Club

Kitchen facilities include two microwaves, stove, oven and sink. There is no refrigeration. The Club will provide plastic cups and cooler for the ice. ICE IS TO BE PICKED UP AT THE EDGE OR HARBOUR VIEW GROCERY AND BILLED TO THE CLUB JUST PRIOR TO THE EVENT. NO OTHER ITEMS ARE TO BE CHARGED TO THE CLUB ACCOUNT.
